How to pack large items:
When shipping large items like appliances, furniture, or sports equipment, proper packing is key to making sure your delivery arrives safely and in good condition. Follow these simple steps:
Choose the right packaging
- Use strong, double-walled cardboard boxes or wooden crates for heavy or fragile items.
- For furniture or appliances, consider custom-fit protective packaging or wrap items in bubble wrap, moving blankets, or foam.
- Make sure the packaging can support the full weight of the item.
Wrap and protect the item
- Cover sharp edges, corners, and surfaces with padding or foam to prevent damage.
- Use bubble wrap or foam sheets to protect delicate parts like handles.
- Secure loose or moving parts (e.g. shelves, doors, wheels) with tape or straps.
Secure the item in the box
- Place the item in the box or crate with minimal movement room.
- Fill any empty spaces with packing peanuts, crumpled paper, or foam blocks to prevent shifting during transit.
- For large open items like gym equipment, dismantle where possible and pack parts tightly together.
Seal the package
- Use heavy-duty packing tape to seal all edges and seams.
- Reinforce the bottom of the box to support the item’s weight.
Label clearly
Label the box with:
- “Fragile” or “Heavy” (if applicable).
- “This side up” arrows to guide handling.
Double-check size and weight limits
Ensure the item fits within City Logistics’ handling requirements, which is a minimum Weight of 30kg and a maximum weight of 1000 kg. Shipments over 1000kg can be shipped, but a manual quote is needed. Please reach out to [email protected] for cost confirmations.
If unsure, weigh the package and confirm with your Bob Go account before booking for pickup.
