“Passion personified” is the perfect description for Bob Go merchant, Centenary Models. Founded by entrepreneur Francois van der Merwe after his retirement, Centenary Models joined the Bob Go family in May 2019 and has been a treasured merchant since then.
As a major importer of diecast models, Francois was Toyota South Africa’s primary supplier of diecast automotive collectables used for promotional purposes. He has since worked with Ford and Volkswagen as well. Francois sells his highly sought after products directly to various businesses and customers, and has been making use of Bob Go as a shipping and order management solution for four years. Although he is not making use of an online store integration, Francois creates his orders manually on the platform with as much attention to detail as he does his business.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Francois’ passion and dedication for his craft became even more apparent; and even after an extremely aggressive 45 radiation treatments, his passion for business never wavered. Despite being confined to his bed throughout his treatment, Francois continued running his business with the help of his grandchildren and is now in remission!
In spite of the obstacles he has faced, Francois remains a positive and determined businessman, beloved by the entire Bob Go team. “Oom Francois” is renowned in the office for his gracious words, his wisdom and hand-written notes with every gift he sends. His kindness even extends to the family of our support team! After finding out that Norah Marsh – our Customer Support Manager – has a 10 year-old son, Francois promptly sent a gift for him to enjoy.
The Bob Go team is proud to work with merchants like this; those that pour everything they have into the business they love. Francois continually inspires us and his story is truly one for the books. “Passion personified”, indeed.
