COVID-19 and uAfrica update

COVID-19 is here and it is time for us to take action.
Along with the rest of the country, uAfrica is on high-alert and is taking as many preventative measures as possible:

DAY-TO-DAY

uAfrica will continue to operate as per normal until further notice from the South African government. The uAfrica team is following all preventative measures as set out by the World Health Organisation.

However, from Wednesday, 18 March 2020, all uAfrica employees have the option to work remotely until health risks are lowered. This means that our telephone lines will not be operable and all support queries must be sent to support@uafrica.com. Any changes and updates will be communicated to our database via email and on our website

DELIVERIES

All deliveries will go ahead as scheduled at this time. As we are reliant on our courier company partners for successful deliveries, we will follow all measures, processes and updates as set out by each company. All three companies have confirmed that they are implementing preventative measures; however, it may take a few days for these procedures to be implemented across all departments. Direct communication from our courier partners will be shared with our uAfrica customers as necessary. Please see below as received from Dawn Wing, The Courier Guy and Courier It.

EVENTS

According to regulations set out by the South African government and Shopify, all in-person Shopify Meetups will be cancelled. Instead, we will host virtual meetups, which can be joined from the safety of your own homes. For more information on these meetups, please visit our events page.

Also in accordance with regulation, our annual Connect eCommerce Summit has been pushed to August 2020. Once the health risk has decreased, we will announce the dates and locations of the Summit.

uAfrica is also limiting participation in other eCommerce events until further notice.

We encourage all South Africans to stand together at this time. Educate yourselves, take every preventative measure possible and stay calm. Let us be kind and compassionate towards one another. Take care of yourselves and let us fight this pandemic together.

We encourage best practices for hygiene as set out by the World Health Organisation. If you are sick, stay home. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.

WhatsApp the COVID-19 support line: +27 60 012 3456. We advise everyone to save this number on their phones and send a WhatsApp message to it. You will receive a response from the South African government with all the necessary information you need to know about COVID-19.
